Brenda Joyce Hollis has always tried to keep the peace. She was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General to be the prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone. She also serves as the principal trial attorney, presenting the case against former President Charles Taylor, who is accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes. She was a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal and Niger, West Africa from 1968-69. After being commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1971, she worked as an intelligence officer and later worked within the judicial system.
