Chuck Kurfess has spent more than 50 years serving Ohio. After serving in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean Conflict, he returned to earn his juris doctor degree from The Ohio State University. He practiced law in Wood County from 1958-91 and was elected judge of the Court of Common Pleas and served 12 years. He was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1956, was Speaker of the House from 1967-72 and then Minority leader for six years. While a lawmaker, he was active in the national effort to improve the legislature’s role in state government.
